Each week I feel the need to check in at:

WIRED
Abduzeedo (The daily inspiration is just overwhelmingly inspiring. How do they do it?)
One of my favorite habitual resources is StumbleUpon. With Graphic Design as a preference, the amount of great work and resources that get "stumbled" is epic. This is seriously one of my most beneficial time-killers.

Literature

Chuck P. is one of my favorite authors. Vulgar and distasteful while writing incredibly deep and evolving stories.

Tipping point is a book about social trends and the epidemic of ideas. Small things = big effects on society. fun stuff.

The majority of periodicals I read are design or science related. Popular science is wonderful and i keep WIRED bookmarked.

home.

This is where i do all of my late night crunch-fests.
While coffee shops are my ideal environment, My hours of operation rarely coincide with theirs.

Creative Brief

The wine that I’m repackaging is Menage a Trois made by Folie a Duex. It is a wine from California that is a composite of three different grapes giving the name Menage a Trois some grounding. The current bottle depicts the name of the bottle in a handwritten font underneath what appears to be two dancing figures. In reality, the dancing figures are an ink blot test that is supposed to complement the implications created by the name Menage a Trois. The wine make people want to think threesome or something at least slightly related to people but then discourages the dirty mind with the fact of the ink blot test and the blend of three grapes, not people.

For my redesign I want to take the wine to a contemporary level. While the bottling is currently old fashioned with a square label and no bright colors, it doesn’t stand out. The name itself gives the wine much publicity but the marketing of that said name falls short. Given that this is a rather inexpensive wine ($5-$10), a modern flair would be much more attractive then the polished, vintage feel that accentuates quality of the product.

Where I currently stand for redesign is with a large sideways “3/M”. While exploring glass options, I would like to stick with a black or very dark glass as it helps with legibility of bright decals as well as keeping light out of the bottle and preserving the taste of the wine. The sideways “M” (for ménage a trios of course) can also be viewed as a three. This dual effect will ease the viewer into making the connection of ménage a trios to a group of three. While currently working on color and type, I would like to use a blend of red, purple, and pink to hint at the fact that this bottle is a blend of grapes and would only like you to be reminded of the sexual act that is so commonly brought up when talking about the wine.

A. Who is your company?
Cafe Campesino Atlanta

Once we decide upon one, you must answer the following questions:
B. What do they do?
They are a cafe and coffee shop

C. Who is their main competition?
Starbucks, Jittery Joes, and local downtown coffee shops

D. What strengths do they have as a brand and as a company?
Cafe Campesino has a great location (on edgewood) and proudly serves only Fair Trade Coffee

E. In what areas do they need improvement?
They are new so could use general advertisement, word of mouth or other methods to get people into the cafe. Their logo is currently only painted and their website is a blogspot.

F. List five buzzwords that describe the brand as it is, and then five words to describe the brand as you wish to redesign it.
New. Local. Green. Home-made. Small.
(what the owner wants is:) Simple. Healthy Affordable. Delicious. and a conducive work environment.

G. Who is their target audience? Of course you want your branding to appeal to as wide of a demographic as possible, but let us know who generally is their most common customer, in terms of age range, gender, interests, income, level of education, and any other info you think helps define your specific audience.
Their audience is the college audience. they want everyone that goes to Georgia State that enjoys coffee.
